Thanks from me, too, SPARKLE!! You made me very happy!

I had already tried uninstalling & re-installing the faulty device
through Windows Device Manager many times, with no luck. I followed your
suggestion & went to the Sony website for my laptop model and downloaded
the original sound device and then uninstalled the faulty one (again)
and installed the new download. SUCCESS!! ~LLW
