I'm having a problem where the Windows Live Sign In service is not starting
automatically. Every time I boot I go into Services, set it to Automatic
and start it, but it reverts back to "Manual" at the next boot. Anyone else
seeing this? Known bug?

Wave 3? Wave 4? I have Wave 3, and I don't have that problem.

I should have mentioned I'm using the new Wave 4 WLM beta.

I sometime use the MS Bridge for newsgroups which uses the Windows live sign in.
I set it to auto log in automatically and it works for a while and then stops. Apparently,
there is a timeout so you have to turn off the auto login, do a manual log in and then turn
back on the auto.
Maybe this is something similar to what you see.
Why are you going to Windows Live Services to enable the Windows Live Sign-In Assistant ?
If the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant(WLSA) is not functional when using WLM or WLMsgr or accessing the web UI(e.g. mail.live.com,
profile.live.com) something went amiss in the install.
Which version of Windows Live Essentials is installed(Wave 3 version 2009 or Wave 4 beta)?
- The WLSA msi file should be present on your machine in a following folder in one of the numerically named subfolders
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live\.cache
- above folder is hidden by design, ensure Windows Explorer is configured to show hidden and protected files/folders.
e.g.
Wave 3 - wllogin.msi
Wave 4 - wllogin_wlx-x86.msi (32 bit o/s)
Find it an run it (ensure you have admin rights..not having admin rights/permission may be cause of your original problem)

I've much the same problem using w7 64 wave 4 beta.
After installing I completed WLSA details including ticking both boxes to
remember and sign in automatically. I did this for WLM, WLMsgr and WLSync
beta after which all went fine until a reboot. Upon reboot the WLSA
re-appeared
for msgr and sync ....completed details again and then signed in ok.(mail
WLSA did not pop up and worked ok)
After each reboot I have to repeat the above.
I found the wave 4 wllogin_wlx-64.msi here C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
Files\Windows Live\.cache\c9d8c50e1cb156301
and reinstalled and then called for reboot. However same problem prevails
Mail however logs in fine after each reboot.
I've also done a windows live essentials repair = no fix.
Short of an un-install then re-install any suggestions welcome?
Many thanks
Ian
ps. worked fine when I was on wave 3 ver 2009.

Not sure what you mean. After booting the system I'm running "services.msc"
to view all Windows 7 services. There I see a service called "Windows Live
ID Sign In Assistant" which is set to "manual" and not started. I've been
changing it to "automatic" and starting it. Afterward Windows Live Mail and
Live Sync work fine, but the service will not start automatically when the
system is rebooted. I'm running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium and Windows Live
Wave 4 beta applications.
