no keyboard controls when playing battlefield 1942

i just bought this new computer heres the specs.

problem is i just installed battlefield 1942 on this computer and when i launch the game and go into single player mode the mouse will let me move my body round and circle but i have no key board controls. so i wnt out to the control panal and checked everything there and its all there. so i went onto a server to try to play and it still wont let me move.* and it will not let me change any of the settings. so i went to my desk top and right clicked the battlefield 1942 icon and made myseld admin still no help ive been playing this game now 4 years with other os systems and never had this problem before. any hope would be greatly app..
