Low Battery Notification

I have Windows 7 Pro running on a Gateway laptop that's more than capable.* Previously I had no issues with the clean install, however recently I've noticed 2 things.* Firstly, my battery icon is there in the taskbar, but there are no notifications at all.* When it gets low it doesn't warn me, and for it's critical action, the computer actually goes into hibernate mode with no warning, and upon wake up, actually shuts down completely before I can start up!* This is extremely annoying and I've changed all the options in the power plan settings to no avail.* Any help here would be appreciated.* Also, I've noticed I have no Windows games, and that's saddening to me.* Any way to get these on the laptop?
